In 1764, Château du Grand-Lucé was established by architect Mathieu de Bayeux as a summer place for Baron Jacques Pineau de Viennay. Diderot, Voltaire, Rousseau, Mozart and Baron von Grimm were among those invited to the Château by the Baron's daughter who was a supporter of the arts.

The neoclassical hotel is situated in the heart of Le Grand-Lucé, a charming village home to two boulangeries, an eleventh-century church, a florist, a pharmacy, a charcuterie, two banks, coiffeurs, a Tabac and a pub.
